Laurel Avenue Case Study

Laurel Avenue Case Study
May 10, 2019 Lindona

Located in Chelmer, Brisbane, the Laurel Avenue project was one of the more challenging projects that we have had the pleasure of working on. The original home, a long-standing bungalow style house, featured a small kitchen, an aging bathroom and required extra space for family and guests.

Our clients wanted to keep the original styling of this unique home while reworking and extending the floorplan. Among a number of other significant changes, the kitchen renovations required master carpentry work as well as excellent planning to stay within the client’s required budget.

Creating the Perfect Entertaining Space

Laurel Avenue Home Renovation Kitchen and Living Room

The client’s main reason for renovating was to increase the size of the kitchen and allow for extra space for guests and family. The kitchen was small and impractical which made entertaining an arduous task. The bathroom was also aging and required a renovation to bring it up-to-date. And lastly, the client wanted to add an extra bedroom underneath the house, to ensure adequate sleeping arrangements for visiting guests.

Lindona Design & Construction wasted no time, completely gutting the kitchen area to allow for Alby Turner and Son to get started on doing what they do best, building master cabinetry and bespoke kitchens. They worked closely with the client to ensure every detail was exactly as the client desired and their dream kitchen matched the home’s character perfectly. As a result, the kitchen was transformed, flowing effortlessly into the dining room and leading out to the courtyard through bi-fold doors.

Room to Grow

Next, the house was prepared for the addition of the new bedroom underneath the house. This required a multitude of temporary supports while heavy machinery was used to excavate underneath the house. The client also wished to keep the charm of the previous design and requested the new floorplan match the existing style of the home. The team at Lindona Design & Construction matched all materials for the new portions of the build and utilised their master carpentry skills to handmake, scribe and seamlessly blend old with new.

The final product? A divine home, boasting exquisite carpentry and master craftsmanship. All within the clients brief and budget.
